Honoring God With the First — Trusting Him for the Harvest

In Scripture, the First Fruits Offering was an act of faith. At the Feast of Firstfruits, Israel brought the first of the harvest to God before enjoying the remainder of the harvest. First fruits were also brought from the increase God provided throughout the year.

By giving the first to God, the giver was declaring trust that the remainder of the harvest would follow. The first fruits represented the harvest that had not yet been gathered.

The Biblical Pattern of First Fruits

Israel was instructed to bring the first of the harvest to Yehovah. The first fruits were not simply a gift of gratitude after everything had been gathered. They were brought at the beginning, before the remainder of the harvest was enjoyed.

This made first fruits an expression of faith. The giver honored God with the first while trusting Him for what was still to come.

We see this principle not only at the Feast of Firstfruits, but throughout Scripture as God's people honored Him from the first and best of their increase.

Yeshua — The First Fruits of the Resurrection

Paul identifies Yeshua’s resurrection directly with the principle of first fruits:

“But now Messiah has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep.” — 1 Corinthians 15:20

Yeshua’s resurrection was the first fruits of a harvest that was still to come. His resurrection was not the entire harvest. It was the assurance of the harvest.

Because He was raised, those who belong to Him have the promise of resurrection. The first guarantees what follows.

This reveals the spiritual principle behind first fruits: we honor God with the first while trusting Him for what is yet to come.

Honoring God With Your First

First fruits is not about the size of the offering. It is about honoring God first and partnering with Him for what is to come.

A first fruits offering may be given at the beginning of a new month, from the first receipts of a new business or venture, or from the first income of a new opportunity God has provided.

The principle is simple: before enjoying the increase, we honor God from the first of it. In doing so, we acknowledge Him as the source of our provision and place what follows into His hands.

For many, giving a first fruits offering at the beginning of the month has become a way of saying:

“Yehovah, I honor You with the first. I trust You for the remainder, and I partner with You in everything this month will bring.”

This is not about a required amount. The amount is between you and God. The significance is in giving the first in faith and trusting Him for the harvest that follows.

Give a First Fruits Offering

If you desire to honor Yehovah with a First Fruits Offering, you may give any amount God places upon your heart.

There is no required amount. This is an offering of faith—honoring God with the first and trusting Him for what follows.

Give the first. Trust God for the harvest.
